Ingredients:
For the Dough:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp instant yeast
1/2 cup warm milk
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
For the Filling and Topping:
1/2 cup Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)
Powdered sugar or cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
Melted chocolate for drizzling (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and yeast.
Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Donuts:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to remove air bubbles.
Roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.
Use a round cutter (or a glass) to cut out donut shapes. Re-roll scraps as needed.
Cook the Donuts:
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. The oil should be around 350°F (175°C).
Fry the donuts in batches, cooking each side for 1–2 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Fill the Donuts:
Once cooled slightly, use a piping bag fitted with a small tip to inject Nutella into the center of each donut. If you don’t have a piping bag, use a small knife to make a slit and spoon Nutella inside.
Decorate (Optional):
Dust the donuts with powdered sugar or cocoa powder, or drizzle with melted chocolate for a fancy touch.
Serve:
Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy these gooey, Nutella-filled delights!
