Sandwich Bread Cannoli Too good not to try — crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor!

Ingredients:

  • Sandwich bread (white bread or “pan bauletto”), crusts removed

  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce

  • 3 black olives, chopped

  • Fresh basil leaves

  • Pasta filata cheese (like mozzarella or provolone), shredded or sliced

  • Dried oregano

  • Grated Parmesan cheese

  • Olive oil

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Breadcrumbs

  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

 

 

  1. Flatten a slice of crustless sandwich bread using a rolling pin. On the diagonal, add a spoonful of tomato sauce, chopped olives, oregano, cheese, and a basil leaf.

  2. Fold the opposite corners together to form a cannoli shape and press to seal.

  3. Dip each cannolo in the beaten egg (seasoned with salt and pepper), then coat it in breadcrumbs.

  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for about 15 minutes, until golden and crispy.

Tip: For extra crispiness, lightly brush the tops with olive oil before baking. Serve warm!
