Six Minute Caramels

Written by Admin

Ingredients

. 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
. 1 cup granulated sugar
. 1 cup light corn syrup
. 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
. Optional: flaky sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pan
Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.
Lightly grease the parchment paper with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2: Make the Caramel
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter , sugar , and corn syrup . Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the sugar dissolves.
Once the mixture starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low and carefully stir in the sweetened condensed milk . Continue stirring constantly for 6 minutes —don’t stop stirring, as this helps prevent burning and ensures smooth caramels.
After 6 minutes, remove the pan fr

om the heat and stir in the vanilla extract . Be careful—it may bubble up slightly when you add the vanilla.

Step 3: Pour and Cool
Pour the hot caramel mixture into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Optional: Sprinkle flaky sea salt evenly over the top of the caramel while it’s still warm for a sweet-and-salty twist.
Let the caramel cool completely at room temperature for about 1–2 hours, then refrigerate for another 1–2 hours, or until firm.

Step 4: Cut and Wrap
Once the caramel is firm, use the parchment paper overhang to lift it out of the pan onto a cutting board.
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the caramel into small squares or rectangles.
Wrap each piece in wax paper or candy wrappers for easy storage and gifting.
